7:00PM begins our pastoral teaching as we study God's word! We believe in studying together BEFORE serving together! Our desire is to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus. We're being discipled in order to make disciples!
Real Youth Real Talk Bible Study
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Youth bible study led by our youth minister every week for an hour. The bible studies are both relevant, real, and seek to cultivate Christian teachings so our youth can accurately and freely represent Jesus in this present culture by the power of God!

What Else? - Fast Guidelines, and More

Daniel Fast Helpful Hints & Guide

February 23-27 is are set Daniel Fast here @TheGVBC.  During this time we are seeking to consecrate ourselves to God for the spiritual journey ahead.  Each member is asked to participate during his fast during these 40 days of holy consecration.  We invite you to use the provided intercessory prayer and scripture calendar, as well as journal over the next 40 days.

Snacks

  • Fruits (fresh and dried – most dried have added sugar) & nuts
  • Hummus
  • Almond butter on slices of apples
  • Plantain chips and hummus (Trader Joe’s – Plantain ships $1.69, Hummus $2.00 - $4.00)
  • Smoothies (without sugar)
  • Sliced apples or peaches in Almond or Coconut milk
  • Be creative and have fun!

Please make sure to READ

THE LABEL when purchasing packaged, canned or bottled foods. Fresh or frozen is best! Look at the list of ingredients on the label. The contents should be free of all sweeteners and free of all chemicals. Keep this in mind as you review this list of acceptable foods.

 

Foods to include in your diet during the Daniel Fast

 

All fruits. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. Fruits include but are
not limited to apples, apricots, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, cantaloupe, cherries, cranberries, figs, grapefruit, grapes, guava, honeydew melon, kiwi, lemons, limes, mangoes, nectarines, oranges, papayas, peaches, pears, pineapples, plums, prunes, raisins, raspberries, strawberries, tangelos, tangerines, watermelon, etc. All vegetables. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. Vegetables include but are not limited to artichokes, asparagus, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chili peppers, collard greens, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, ginger root, kale, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, potatoes, radishes, rutabagas, scallions, spinach, sprouts, squashes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, yams, zucchini, veggie burgers are an option if you are not allergic to soy, etc. Corn tortillas, popcorn in popped in olive oil, coconut oil, (or 100% fruit or vegetable oil). 
All nuts and seeds, including but not limited to sunflower seeds, cashews, sesame, coconut, almond, etc. Also nut butters including peanut butter, almond butter, etc. All legumes. These can be fresh, frozen, canned or dried. Legumes include but are not limited to dried beans, pinto beans, split peas, lentils, black eyed peas, kidney beans, black beans, cannellini beans, white beans, etc.  

All quality oils including but not limited to olive, canola, grape seed, coconut, sesame, etc.

Beverages: spring water, distilled water or other pure waters. Other: tofu, soy products, vinegar, seasonings, salt, herbs and spices.

Foods to avoid on the Daniel Fast

All meat and animal products including but not limited to beef, lamb, pork, poultry, and fish.

All dairy products including but not limited to milk, cheese, cream, butter, eggs, etc... (Try almond or soy milk instead).

All sweeteners including but not limited to sugar, raw sugar, honey, syrups, molasses, cane juice, and all artificial sweeteners, etc...

All leavened bread including Ezekiel Bread (it contains yeast and honey) and baked goods.

All refined and processed food products including but not limited to artificial flavorings, food additives, chemicals, rice, flour, and foods that contain artificial preservatives.

All deep fried foods including but not limited to potato chips, French fries, corn chips. All solid fats including shortening, margarine, lard and foods high in fat.

Beverages including but not limited to coffee, tea, herbal teas, carbonated beverages, energy drinks, alcohol, etc.  Remember, READ THE LABELS!

If health reasons do not allow you to participate in this type of fast, we ask you to join others in fasting from TELEVISION.
